Abstract

The use of art in mental health spaces is widespread. However, there is a lack of studies about this tool as a harm reduction strategy for problem substance users. In Recife, the Fábrica Fazendo Arte Group is a reference in this practice. The objective of this study was, therefore, to understand the role of art in that project as an instrument for the social reintegration of drug users. This is a qualitative research, carried out through a focus group with a total of 6 participants - all members of the Fábrica Fazendo Arte Group. From the data analysis, it was possible to understand the space of the group as a facilitator in the process of resocialization of the subjects; of promoting and maintaining self-esteem, in addition to stimulating autonomy through art.
