Abstract

This investigation aimed to identify perspectives of elderly people deprived of liberty in a prison institution in the Eastern Amazon (Pará). To this end, a descriptive, exploratory, cross-sectional, quantitative-qualitative (mixed) study was carried out. The sample consisted of 22 participants. Data were collected from 1) Biopsychosocial Questionnaire and 2) Semi-directed interview. From the elements collected, it was concluded that the penitentiary system in the state of Pará (Eastern Amazon) presents aspects that can be improved through the creation of public policies that encourage internal activities aimed at elderly people. Furthermore, it is also concluded that the routine and perspectives of the participants are modulated throughout the duration of conditions of social vulnerability in view of environmental characteristics and historical and cultural context, conferring greater risk to health, although they present some degree of adaptability and resilience, as verified in the reports.
