Abstract

The objective was to analyze the conceptions of professionals working in a CAPS I and a CAPSad about the interconnection between madness, abusive use of psychoactive substances, and dangerousness. The data were analyzed using Descending Hierarchical Classification (DHC), facilitated by the IRaMuTeQ software. The results indicate that the opinions of the professionals were divided regarding the possible relationship between madness and dangerousness, and abusive use of psychoactive substances and dangerousness. The association between madness and dangerousness made by CAPS I professionals points to situations where patients are in crisis. Meanwhile, CAPS ad professionals associated it with specific situations, such as when they are under the influence of substance use or withdrawal. It is concluded that many paradigms still need to be broken for the care provided to users to be appropriate and in line with the ideals of Psychiatric Reform.
