Fag Union?! Gatho between memories and invisibilities in journalistic productions in Brazilian redemocratization
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze about the way how the local journalistic press media introduced the Gatho’s political demands, the first LGBT group in the Pernambuco, in the 1980s. We trace an approach concerning to the scientific literature on the LGBT movement in the redemocratization in Brazil, highlighting dynamics and power games that acted in that period for the emergence of this social movement. The analytics about the material journalistic found were organized in discursive repertories into four axis: 1) Gatho’s counter-hegemonic narratives; 2) the narratives in this media about the first organized meetings of the homosexual movement; 3) Gatho's criticism to the sensationalist media; 4) Gatho's articulation with members of the academic community. The results collaborate to give visibility the experiences rarely referred to talking about the LGBT movement in our country, which usually prioritize narratives from the South and Southeast of Brazil and ignore the potency of these initiatives.
