Abstract

The participation of children seen as a question of giving voice to them shows limitations, especially if one considers the specificities of children’s experiences contextualized in the Global South. To have voice makes up the vision of a rational and autonomous subject, as prime qualities for communication and relationality in the public spaces. In the present article, it is questioned whether it is possible to conceive children’s participation beyond the notion of voice. The research was carried out with sem terrinha children of the MST, in a rural settlement and in Meetings of the social movement. The empirical data resulted from an ethnographic approach, including workshops with the children and semi-structured interviews with the adults. Participation is produced in movement, which is immanent to the daily experiences of children who live in the socio-political context of the social movement.
