Women, Political Bodies and Subjectivities: social model of disability and activism
Abstract
This article objective is to present the meanings of the political body of disability that we have been building and elaborating together in a workshop that was carried out based on the reading and discussion of a work by Lígia Amaral, a Brazilian psychologist and woman with disabilities. The conception and proposition of the training course came from the social movement of blind and low vision women to the university, which leads us to affirm that the social movement of visually disabled women produces knowledge on a daily basis, through their activisms, struggles and partnerships with universities. In this way, taking the perspective of the social model of disability as a background, we make a brief history of the social movement, feminist, of blind women and, then, we propose some meanings for the political body of disability that we built in articulation with the contributions by Ligia Amaral.
