The meeting with feminist disability studies and the production of insurgent narratives
Abstract
The purpose of this text was to present the contributions of the meeting with feminist disability studies for the construction of insurgent narratives, committed to the anti-ableist struggle. To this end, we briefly present disability studies with emphasis on the contributions of feminist authors. Next, we highlight the contributions of disability justice to the construction of politically disabled people. Then, from the perspective of a feminist politics of localized writing (Haraway, 1995), we narrate our encounters with feminist disability studies. Finally, based on our experiences and encounters with feminist disability studies, we point out contributions to the construction of insurgent narratives, which are consistent with the production of new ways of relating to disability - which challenge structural ableism and corroborate the production of political subjects. We also defend the diffusion of this field in the high school and higher education curriculum.
