Abstract

The article’s objective is to analyze the knowledge and practice of operators of laws and psychiatry in relation of Custody and Treatment Psychiatric Unit (UPCT in Brazilian Portuguese) and your place in the context of psychiatric Brazilian reform. It analyses the arguments that base the internment measures from the judiciary and psychiatric perspective, and the possible solutions to the judiciary asylum towards the mandatory of uninstitucionalization obliged from the new social attention paradigm. The research, based on Insitutional analysis postulates, detected how this knowledge and practice pass through the institutional space, shaping it like a stiffened molar set and practically non different of the regular prison structures, faced with the total failure of the therapeutics projects directed to the insane transgressor.
