Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on children’s mental health

Considering the repercussions of the current public health emergency caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19), it is necessary to understand how children are impacted on their mental health and what are the strategies that can be adopted while facing this experience. The individual’s systemic view, which emphasizes his or her relations and interactions, allows an unique deepening of this matter. Thus, the present study aimed to systematize knowledge about the impacts of the new coronavirus pandemic on children's mental health. According tothe critical review of the literature on scientific basis, these impacts can be experienced directly or indirectly and exist in levels, such as individual, family and social. Challenges and possibilities for children's mental health care are discussed regarding pandemic’s impact.
