Longitudinal Study: Quality of Work Life, Commitment and Organizational Entrenchment

Abstract
Quality of life at work and organizational ties are elements that can be related, coexist and are strategic for the organization. This study sought to identify the influence of quality of work life (QWL) on the latent profiles of organizational commitment and entrenchment among civil servants at federal educational institutions in Brazil. A quantitative, longitudinal study was carried out with an initial sample of 1,060 participants, with data collected over three periods. Descriptive statistics, latent transition and logistic regression analyses were carried out. The bonds were relatively stable, as were the profiles, and there was room for management intervention in QWL. Longitudinally, there was a positive and stable influence of QWL on commitment and a variable and unstable influence on entrenchment. The results point out to public managers that decentralized and democratic management can encourage the formation of diverse and efficient profiles of civil servants, given the coexistence of ties in the organization.
