Authors

Abstract

Positive psychology interventions promote psychological health. This quasi-experimental study evaluated an intervention efficacy on character strengths perception and psychological well-being in 30 information technology (IT) professionals. A sociodemographic and labor questionnaire, and the Character Strengths and Psychological Wellbeing scales were applied online. The intervention structure was six individual, weekly, face-to-face meetings. The intervention results indicate an increase in the score for the dimensions creativity, prudence, and perspective; and in the psychological well-being scale, domain of the environment and autonomy. The effect size was small in authenticity, bravery, teamwork, creativity, hope, leadership, judgment and prudence, and average in perspective and all psychological wellbeing dimensions. Empirical evidence indicates that psychological well     being can be promoted by intentional activities mobilizing character strengths. Such activities contribute to organizations by undertaking programs that encourage the endorsement of personal strengths at work.
