Team Transportable Competencies: Evidence of Validity

Authors

Abstract

Organizations are projecting teams according to the skills needed to perform specific tasks and which at the same time are adaptable as the scenario changes. Certain competencies are necessary to manage dynamic states, as well as being present in all work teams. The transportable competencies are coordination, adaptability, and communication. This study aimed to develop and investigate evidence of validity of a measure that evaluates the transportable competencies. It was conducted with 465 members of work teams, who answered the electronic questionnaire. Exploratory and semi-confirmatory factorial analysis indicated the relevance of adopting a factorial solution with excellent internal reliability: Coordination - α = 0.90; Adaptability - α = 0.90; Communication - α = 0.93. The semi-confirmatory analysis showed good adjustment and residual rates (CFI = 0.99; NNFI = 0.99; RMSEA = 0.021; RMSR = 0.028). The results highlight the suitability of the measure to quantify team transportable competencies, contributing to future research that wishes to better understand the relationship between this variable and the functioning of work teams.
