Getting busy being a mother to a rainbow baby

This research aimed to understand the experience of being a mother of a baby born after gestational/neonatal losses. The study is qualitative, phenomenological and descriptive. Semi-structured online interviews were conducted with seven women-mothers about the experience of motherhood after experiencing losses, the meanings attributed to mothering and the occupational organization of these mothers. The results were analyzed using Bardin's content analysis method. The research demonstrated that maternal grief is remembered even after the arrival of the rainbow child, that pregnancy after gestational/neonatal losses was marked by the duality of the happiness of gestation and the fear of experiencing a new loss, that the meanings of being a mother of a rainbow baby/child were subjective, and that the occupations performed by the participants are not only mothering.
