Abstract

The main objective of this article is to reflect on the complexity of death and the attitudes that such reality generates in the human existence. By analyzing the different representations, behaviors, and actions that the human being assumed and still assumes before death, the purpose of this research is to reveal conceptions about human existence and its processes. To achieve this objective, we will use an interdisciplinary look that will seep through authors from the most varied areas of Human Sciences, such as philosophers, anthropologists, sociologists, historians and psychologists. Thus, we do not wish to exhaust the theme, but instead our aim is to introduce the reader to the different discussions about death, while highlighting, mainly, the increasingly poignant demand for a better understanding of this reality to achieve a more humane and humanizing comprehension of existence itself.
