Abstract

The Brazilian federal public administration has changed work processes that may have detrimental effects on the health of its employees. This study aimed to gather evidence for the validity of the Scale of Perceived Social Support for Work and to examine the impact of perceived social support at work on experiences of pleasure and suffering among 288 federal public servants. The questionnaire included the scale above and the Scale of Indicators of Pleasure and Suffering at Work. Exploratory factor analyses, reliability analyses, and multiple regression analyses were performed. Evidence of validity and reliability for the evaluated instrument was found. Perceived social support at work influenced experiences of pleasure and suffering. Programs aimed at valuing public servants can be implemented to promote mental health.
