“Building a Ship is Different from Piloting one”: Resilience of Women Entrepreneurs from an Intersectional Perspective

Authors

Abstract

Female entrepreneurship has become a fundamental pillar of economic and social development, yet structural and cultural challenges still hinder women's entrepreneurial journeys. This study examines female entrepreneurial resilience from an intersectional perspective, considering how gender, race, and class influence their paths. Resilience is seen as a crucial resource for overcoming barriers such as gender discrimination, financial difficulties, and lack of support networks. This qualitative research involved interviews with 10 female entrepreneurs from Uberlândia (MG), exploring their experiences and challenges. Findings highlight that while resilience is essential for business survival, its constant demand can be exhausting without adequate support. The study underscores the need for public policies and support networks to ensure a more equitable and inclusive environment for female entrepreneurship, fostering real opportunities for sustainable growth.

Keywords: female entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial resilience, intersectionality.
