Translation, Adaptation and Psychometric Studies of the Leadership Self-Efficacy Scale
Abstract
The self-efficacy for leadership refers to the individual’s belief in his capability to successfully play the leadership’s role. This study aimed to translate, retrotranslate and verify the semantic analysis of the Multidimensional Leadership Self-Efficacy Scale (LSE) 4.0 version into Brazilian Portuguese. After the translation and retrotranslation the scale was applied to a sample of 156 Brazilian leaders. Validity’s evidence based on the analysis of the internal structure was searched, reliability was verified through the alpha of Cronbach 0,91 and the omega of McDonald 0,91, indicating good accuracy rate for the instrument. As a result, the LSE is unifactorial, with explained variance 0,385 and composed of 20 items which measure what the construct suggests. Furthermore, the possible differences among sex, age, time of leadership, number of subordinates and nature of the organization were verified. This study can contribute to new researches in the field of Psychology.
