Evidence of Validity and Precision of an Occupational Psychosocial Risk Factor Assessment Instrument
Abstract
Occupational psychosocial risk factors (fatores de risco psicossociais ocupacionais [FRPO]) are demands or working conditions with the potential to cause embarrassment and/or personal harm. The objective of this study is to present evidence of validity and precision of a FRPO assessment instrument. A total of 347 workers from different occupations participated in the study. Evidence of content validity was obtained for a FRPO assessment instrument, with 51 items. Based on Exploratory Factor Analysis and Item Response Theory (IRT), five factors were extracted: socio-emotional, cognitive, work control, monotony, and managerial. The internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) of the factors ranged between 0.67 and 0.90, with a total precision of 0.93. The FRPO rating scale provided satisfactory evidence of the validity of the internal structure and accuracy. It is considered important to expand the sample studies, aiming to improve psychometric studies confirming its internal structure and evidence of validity by external measures.
