Abstract

In the present article, we present the studies to construct an inventory to assess happiness at work (IFT), and highlight validity evidence to the IFT based on its internal structure. Happiness at work was defined as a state with positive thoughts, feelings, and emotions, which presuppose immediate enjoyment and pleasures, endowed with meaning and purpose; composed of four components: Transcendental, Relational, Material of existence, and Personal. A total of 814 adults between the ages of 18 and 65 participated, 562 of whom were women. We performed exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The factors proposed to the IFT were identified in the AFE, despite the clear indication to maintain the first three factors as the most robust composition of the construct, in the AFC. We conclude that the IFT presents initial evidence of validity based on its internal structure; however, new studies must be conducted to corroborate its validity.
