Job Crafting and Work Meaning as Antecedents of Job Embeddedness
Abstract
Job embeddedness is a combination of organizational and extra-organizational factors that prevent a person from leaving their job. Research of people’s backgrounds is an area in which there are few studies. The aim of this study was to analyse the roles of job crafting and meaningful work in the explanation of job embeddedness. A cross-sectional, correlational-explanatory, quantitative empirical verification was carried out on a non-probabilistic sample of 381 Argentine workers. A battery of scales with proven psychometric properties was applied to measure the variables under study. Exploratory, descriptive, correlational, and multivariate analyses were carried out. The results indicate that meaningful work partially mediates the relationship between job crafting and job embeddedness. These findings show the importance of proactive management of job demands and resources, as well as the perception of meaningful work to promote talent retention.
Keywords: job embeddedness, job crafting, meaningful work.
