Abstract

This essay proposes an interpretive reading of selected works by Byung-Chul Han (Society of Tiredness, Society of Transparency and Psychopolitics) and by Martin Heidegger (The Fundamental Concepts of Metaphysics and The Question Concerning Technology), with objective of establishing a possible relationship regarding the understanding of the contemporary world and its forms of psychological suffering. It was possible to notice an epistemological difference between the works, however, simultaneously, it seemed possible to take the existentials of historicity and corporeality as common criteria of interpretation to finding common elements to both, namely: a restriction of the human condition in the current period by exploring oneself and by the structures of technique and the first and second form of boredom, which make a departure from the most proper condition of being; a restriction of the nexus with the body experienced by the pressure for performance and productivity.
