Abstract

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has a significant impact on social and occupational functioning. This scoping review aimed to analyze the characteristics and challenges faced by individuals with ADHD in the workplace and career. The review was conducted across six databases, adhering to the PRISMA-ScR protocol, with no restrictions on publication period or language, up to July 2023. A total of 605 studies were identified, of which 26 met the eligibility criteria. Additionally, a case study of a 27-year-old physician diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 15 was analyzed in conjunction with the review findings. The combined analysis of the scoping review and case study highlighted the occupational challenges faced by individuals with ADHD, including their impacts on job performance, workplace effectiveness, and professional relationships. These findings underscore the importance of fostering more inclusive and supportive work environments for employees with ADHD, offering hope for improved outcomes and better integration into the workforce.
