Psychosocial Risks of Work in Civil Servants of a Public University
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the psychosocial risks of work in civil servants at a university, according to the Psychodynamics of Work, using the PROART and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were carried out. The sample consisted of 304 participants, with a mean age of 43 years (SD = 10), 47.04% professors, and 52.96% technical-administrative staff in education (TAEs). Professors perceived the Managerialist Management Style as uncharacteristic of their work, and TAEs had higher mean scores than professors. TAEs presented a higher risk due to the lack of meaning in work. The variable length of service at the institution (shorter) was negatively related to Lack of Meaning in Work, Mental Exhaustion, and Psychological and Social Damage. The results indicate the relevance of interventions with these predictors in measures of prevention and promotion in workers’ health to manage these risks in universities.
