Barriers to Women's Career Development Scale: Psychometric Properties
Keywords:

Offering instruments capable of assessing the barriers that inhibit equitable career development between men and women is essential to reduce gender asymmetries in organizations. We analysed the psychometric properties of the Scale of Barriers for Women's Career Development. We surveyed 210 Brazilian working women and analysed the data using the JASP 0.16.4 software. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis identified an internal structure with five factors (Work-Family Conflict, Management Policies and Practices, Intragroup Discrimination, Discriminatory Practices, and Internal Barriers), with adequate internal consistency and convergent validity with workaholism. We impact the area with the provision of the instrument for diagnosis and prognosis of contingencies that inhibit the career development of women in work organizations, favouring organizational assessment practices focused on effective gender equity through men and women.
