Abstract

This scoping review maps the literature on remote work leadership published between 2015 and 2025, seeking to provide a broader understanding of this phenomenon by examining methodological, theoretical, and empirical aspects. The search was conducted in PsycInfo, Web of Science, Scopus, and LILACS, and 25 of the 953 identified studies were included. Methodologically, cross-sectional quantitative studies using self-report measures predominated. The main variables investigated were leadership styles, e-leadership, remote management, and self-leadership. Conceptually, e-leadership was the main theoretical framework, although few studies provided a definition of remote leadership. The study contributes to Work and Organizational Psychology by identifying gaps in the field, including the need for longitudinal research, studies in underrepresented regions, and models that consider the influence of virtuality.
